We provide students with an entertaining and creative learning environment, which facilitates language acquisition with an innovative hybridized language teaching method: A sport-language course. TPR is based on language-body neural communication and is all about physical movement, it can be adapted to sport easily. Sport is used as the fun and healthy platform to artificially recreate “real-life” situations so that we can shape the games to our desired discipline, foreign language appreciation and learning.
Through the principles of Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) we create lesson plans involving every topic in the official school curriculum. TGfU does not focus on teaching technical skills to perform in the activity as in the traditional approach. Rather, it favors the idea that skill is acquired naturally when the tactical knowledge needed to play the modified games, begins to be intuited. Then, the activity based learning environment starts to take clear effect, increasing participation and motivation and easy unconscious learning occurs. This is bolstered by the main hypothesis of the Natural Approach, “that language should be acquired rather than learned”.
